Sharma’s bail: hearing tomorrow New Delhi, August 26 The police claimed in the court that Shivani was “eliminated” because she had got certain “volatile documents” against the officer who was still elusive. Mr Justice M.A. Khan was today briefed by the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) S.K. Saxena with details of the investigation done by the police so far. Mr Saxena also told the court during the hearing on Sharma’s bail petition that some of the “volatile documents”, which the contract killer, hired by him, could not lay hands on after Shivani’s murder at her flat had been seized by the police. Stating that the court can peruse these documents to its satisfaction before deciding on the bail plea of Sharma, Mr Saxena said the documents had been placed under “seal” by the police. The police had “zeroed in” on Sharma after computer analysis of over 2,000 calls made during the relevant period by Shivani, Sharma and four persons, hired by him to get rid of the Indian Express journalist, he said. “We have oral and documentary evidence against Sharma and the motive behind the criminal conspiracy hatched by him with the co-accused — Shri Bhagwan, Pradeep Sharma, Satya Prakash and Ved Sharma — to eliminate Shivani,” Mr Saxena said, adding that “the custodial interrogation of the IPS officer is necessary to unearth the conspiracy.” While the police has already arrested Bhagwan, Pradeep and Satya Prakash, Ved Sharma, is yet to be arrested. |
