IT return date extended till Aug 9
New Delhi, July 30
The government today extended the last date for filing Income Tax by individuals to August 9. The earlier deadline was July 31. The Finance Ministry also relaxed the condition for quoting permanent account number (PAN) on bank challans. Considering problems faced by such taxpayers who have applied for PAN/TAN and are awaiting allotment, it had been decided by the CBDT that such persons may deposit the tax in the bank provided they produce a copy of the application for PAN/TAN made by them or else state in writing to the bank that such an application has been made.
