Chandigarh, July 26
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today set up two separate subcommittees to go into the genuine grievances of the employees of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and the State Government.

The decision was taken by the Chief Minister after a meeting this evening with representatives of various boards, corporations, cooperative institutions, including PSIEC, Punsup. PFC, PSIDC Markfed, Spinfed, Land Mortgage Bank, Employees Maha Sangh and the Joint Action Committee of the Punjab and UT Employees.

Dispelling the fears of employees the Chief Minister said the Government was not bound to implement the report of the Vaishnav Committee regarding disinvestment. He said the suggestions put forward by representatives of various employees’ unions at today's meeting with regard to disinvestment, pay parity, restoration of DA etc would be discussed in detail by the two subcommittees.

Mr Nirmal Singh Ghuman, President of the Maha Sangh, said the government was urged at the meeting not to take any unilateral decision on the recommendations of the disinvestment commission. He said that employees of PSUs should be taken into confidence before taking any decision pertaining to their salaries and removal from service.
