3 ex-members of PSSSB picked up by Vigilance

Vigilance Bureau policemen from Chandigarh took into custody Mr Munawar Masih, who was a member of the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board during the Akali-BJP rule when he came out from a church where Union Minister of State for Tourism Vinod Khanna paid obeisance here today. Mr Kulbir Singh Randhawa also a member of the PSSSB was arrested on June 9.

According to vigilance sources a case under Sections 13 (1) (E) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered by the Vigilance Bureau at Chandigarh on June 28 for which Mr Munawar Masih was wanted. He has been accused of misusing his official position and amassing wealth disproportionate to his known means of income.

Supporters of Munawar Masih met the Union Minister of State for Tourism to secure his (Masih’s) release but nothing happened. Masih served as a PSSSB member from 1997 to February 2002. He is accused of having taken bribe for posts filled during his tenure.

PHAGWARA: A team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau today took away Akali leader and a former member of the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) Mr Jarnail Singh Wahid from his Model Town residence here. The family sources of Mr Wahid claimed that Mr Wahid went with the Vigilance team in his own car. They also said that Mr Wahid had been taken just for questioning in connection with a case. Mr Ashok Lumbah, also a former member of the PSSSB was picked up from Ludhiana last night.
