Jaya to get MDMK banned

Chennai, July 12
Continuing her onslaught on the MDMK and the drive against supporters of the LTTE, the banned Sri Lankan Tamil militant outfit, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today said her government would initiate steps to get the MDMK banned for its open support to the “deadly and treacherous” LTTE.

Asserting that there was no political motive in arresting MDMK leader Vaiko under POTA for making pro-LTTE utterances, she told reporters, “It is a self-created thing. Who asked him to address a public meeting at Thirunamangalam in support of the LTTE? We have prima facie case against him and all the documents will be produced in a special court to be constituted to conduct the trial in the case”.

She said the MDMK General Council at its recent executive meeting had passed a resolution that the party’s very existence was for fighting for the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils and its support to the LTTE would continue. PTI
