Cholera in Baroda city
Baroda, June 22
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has declared the city as cholera-threatened and disconnected 1,300 water connections in the Harni Sawad area yesterday after four cases of cholera were reported positive from the locality. Earlier, the residents had gheraoed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner Jayant Kumar Sevak and other civic officials when they visited the area to ascertain the cause of the outbreak of the epidemic, it added PTI

Riot victims’ dharna
Ahmedabad, June 22
Victims of Gujarat communal riots, led by the Qaumi Relief Committee (QRC), will stage a dharna in New Delhi on June 27 to draw Prime Minister’s attention towards “incomplete relief and rehabilitation work” in the violence-hit areas of the state. A message was sent to Mr Vajpayee yesterday about the dharna in which about 60 victims and Muslim leaders from the state would participate, QRC general secretary Saukat Tyrewala said here today. The problem of victims’ safety at their respective places still persisted, he said. PTI

Car bomb blast
Marebella (Spain), June 22
A car bomb exploded in the southern coastal resort of Mijas today in the latest in a series of blasts in Spain’s tourist mecca of the Costa del Sol, Spanish media reported. The blast follows three other car bomb attacks yesterday by Basque separatist group ETA, timed to coincide with a summit of European Union leaders in Seville. Reuters
