Four brothers kidnapped, killed Jammu, June 9 According to the police, the four brothers, sons of Khamoo, had been kidnapped from their house by the militants at gunpoint on June 7. The police launched a manhunt to trace these four brothers and today, their bodies, bearing torture marks, were found from the forest belt. Senior police officers, including the Inspector-General of Police, Mr P.L. Gupta, visited the area for strengthening the security arrangements. In another incident, the security forces killed four ultras in an encounter at Sultanpathri in Loran-Mandi area of Poonch district late last evening. The identity of the slain militants, who had infiltrated from across the LoC could not be ascertained as yet, they said. A policeman, Mr Rajesh Kumar, was injured in an encounter involving a police patrol party and ultras in Basantgarh area of Udhampur district during the period. In yet another incident, police rescued four youths in Poonch district while they were being taken by militants to across the border for arms training, they said. The youths, who were rescued in Surankote area, belonged to Kulgam area of Kashmir valley, they said. In yet another incident a newly-wed woman was shot dead by militants after being kidnapped at Gambhir Mughlam in Manjakote sector of Rajouri district last night, the police said today. The police said the incident occurred when baratis were returning after solemnising a marriage. As they reached Gambhir Nullah near Gambhir Mughlan, the ultras intercepted the procession and kidnapped the bride Shagufa Naz and three men at gunpoint. Thereafter, the ultras released the three men. Naz’s body was found at Gambhir Mughlan this morning. The security forces had launched a manhunt to nab the assailants, the police said. Meanwhile, a Defence Ministry release said the Indian troops opened fire when they spotted a group of six militants infiltrating into the Indian territory from across Bhimber Gali in Poonch earlier today. A militant belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit was killed in firing. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession. |
