Stay on Bofors
New Delhi, May 28
The Delhi High Court today extended till tomorrow the stay on the trial proceedings in the Rs 64-crore Bofors payoff case while exempting P.P. Hinduja, one of the three Hinduja brothers present in India, from appearing before the trial judge on Wednesday. Justice R.S. Sodhi, who had stayed the trial proceedings till today on May 14, extended it by a day at the request of Hinduja’s counsel Ram Jethmalani.

Indo-China EPG meeting begins
Beijing, May 28
The second session of the Indo-China Eminent Persons Group (EPG) began its two-day meeting here today. Asked if the Indo-Pakistan tension could figure during the closed-door session, Chairman of the Indian delegation R.L. Bhatia said: “If the Chinese side raises it, we would be willing to discuss it.”

Storm kills 21
Etawah (UP), May 28
At least 21 people were killed and 70 injured in incidents of house collapse triggered by heavy rains and gusty winds that lashed parts of Etawah and Auraiya districts last night, official sources said here today. Normal life was disrupted in the area as telecom services and power supply were hit adversely by the storm.
