Militants kill CRPF jawan
Jammu, May 28
A CRPF jawan was killed and seven others wounded when militants opened fire on two vehicles on the Srinagar-Jammu highway near Banihal today. Reports said that five CRPF jawans, one Army personnel and two civilians were wounded in the attack. Later, the CRPF jawan succumbed to his injuries.

Officers and Jawans of 196 Field Regiment held a meeting here today wherein they expressed profound grief and sorrow on the barbaric terrorist attack at Kaluchak Army camp on May 14 in which Armymen, women and children laid down their lives while fighting terrorists.

Militants kill CRPF jawan

Jammu, May 28
A CRPF jawan was killed and seven others wounded when militants opened fire on two vehicles on the Srinagar-Jammu highway near Banihal today.

Reports said that five CRPF jawans, one Army personnel and two civilians were wounded in the attack. Later, the CRPF jawan succumbed to his injuries.

According to the reports as the CRPF vehicle and the Tata Sumo, carrying civilians and the Army personnel, reached a spot 183 km east of Jammu on the highway near Baniwal, both the vehicles came under heavy fire.

Additional companies of the police and troops were rushed to the spot and search operations carried out.

Officers and Jawans of 196 Field Regiment held a meeting here today wherein they expressed profound grief and sorrow on the barbaric terrorist attack at Kaluchak Army camp on May 14 in which Armymen, women and children laid down their lives while fighting terrorists.

At the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed to pray for peace to the souls of Manjit Singh, Roop Chand, Jaswinder Kour, Dimple, Anandeep Kaur, Jitinder Singh, Devinder Singh, Ramandeep Kaur, Baljit Kaur, Joginder Kaur, Poonam Devi, Anchal, Pinky and Jaswinder Kaur.

Amarnath
yatra from July 22

Pahalgam, May 28
Security and other related matters for successful conduct of the month-long Amarnath yatra, commencing from July 22, were discussed here. Over 1.30 lakh devotees from all over the country are expected to join the pilgrimage this year.

To attract more pilgrims, registration of yatris will be done at 80 branches of the Jammu and Kashmir bank all over the country. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board with Governor G.C. Sexana in the chair. Besides a yatra nivas would be constructed at a cost of Rs 63 crore for the pilgrims at Nunwan, it was decided at the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and senior civil, military and police officials.

Mr Sexana, who is also the Chairman of the board, directed that reconnaissance of the entire route, from here to the cave shrine, be carried out. UNITop
