Militants kill CRPF jawan Jammu, May 28 Reports said that five CRPF jawans, one Army personnel and two civilians were wounded in the attack. Later, the CRPF jawan succumbed to his injuries. According to the reports as the CRPF vehicle and the Tata Sumo, carrying civilians and the Army personnel, reached a spot 183 km east of Jammu on the highway near Baniwal, both the vehicles came under heavy fire. Additional companies of the police and troops were rushed to the spot and search operations carried out. |
Tributes paid to Kaluchak victims Jammu, May 28 At the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed to pray for peace to the souls of Manjit Singh, Roop Chand, Jaswinder Kour, Dimple, Anandeep Kaur, Jitinder Singh, Devinder Singh, Ramandeep Kaur, Baljit Kaur, Joginder Kaur, Poonam Devi, Anchal, Pinky and Jaswinder Kaur. Pahalgam, May 28 To attract more pilgrims, registration of yatris will be done at 80 branches of the Jammu and Kashmir bank all over the country. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board with Governor G.C. Sexana in the chair. Besides a yatra nivas would be constructed at a cost of Rs 63 crore for the pilgrims at Nunwan, it was decided at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and senior civil, military and police officials. Mr Sexana, who is also the Chairman of the board, directed that reconnaissance of the entire route, from here to the cave shrine, be carried out.
