Eight of a family killed in mishap
JAIPUR:
Eight members of a family were killed, three on the spot, and one was injured when their jeep collided head on with a truck near Bassi on the Jaipur-Agra national highway, about 30 km from here, the police said on Friday. The mishap occurred on Thursday night when they were coming to Jaipur from Nyadiwas village in Alwar district. PTI

Sanjay Dutt, 82 others exempted
MUMBAI:
A special court on Friday exempted from appearance 83 accused in the 1993 serial blast case, including film actor Sanjay Dutt, till June 10 in view of the summer vacations. Sanjay Dutt and other accused appeared before designated judge P.D. Kode who granted them exemption as the trial is over and arguments are being advanced by the lawyers. PTI

Three-month jail term for Bihar DFO
PATNA:
The Patna High Court has sentenced Divisional Forest Officer, Saran, Uma Shankar Jha, to three months imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 for not complying with the order of the court to release a truck laden with timber. The Jha was held guilty of contempt for not obeying the court’s May 2 directive. PTI
