CM writes to HC for sparing sitting judge

Chandigarh, May 17
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today said that he had written to the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking sparing of a sitting judge to head a commission of inquiry to probe acts of omission and commission during the tenure of previous government. “I have conveyed through a letter to the Chief Justice that even leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal also holds a similar opinion,” he said on the sidelines of filing of nomination papers by his party candidate Ashwani Kumar for the Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab.

He expressed confidence that the Chief Justice would accept his request.

He ruled out further expansion of his Cabinet.

He, however, said that portfolios of certain ministers might be changed keeping in mind the work pressure. PTI
