SC upholds ban on forced strikes
New Delhi, May 10
The Supreme Court today partly upheld a judgement of the Kerala High Court which banned forced strikes. A Bench comprising Mr Justice V.N. Khara and Mr Justice Ashok Bhan, however, struck down the portion of the judgement which directed the Election Commission to derecognise political parties which called for such forceful strikes. UNI

Ajit Singh's mother dead
New Delhi, May 10
Union Agriculture Minister’s mother Gayatri Devi, a freedom fighter and a former member of Parliament, died here today after a prolonged illness. Mrs Gayatri Devi (97) widow of the late Prime Minister Charan Singh, is survived by four daughters and son Ajit Singh. UNI
