Jail-break case
Lucknow, April 19
The Uttar Pradesh Government has suspended seven jail employees after as many inmates facing trial for heinous crimes escaped from the Lucknow District Jail in the wee hours today. Senior Jail Superintendent Anil Kumar here said the suspended employees included three head warden and four warden of the jail for laxity in their duty. Mr Anil Kumar said senior jail officials inspected the district jail premises and took stock of the situation. Earlier, the undertrials made their way out by making a hole in a toilet wall and later used a drain pipe to climb down the boundary wall, located near the Jailor’s home. UNI

Directive to Gujarat
New Delhi, April 19
Keeping in mind the career of thousands of students who could not appear in the higher secondary and senior secondary examinations due to the prevailing atmosphere of tension, the Supreme Court today asked the Gujarat Government as to why supplementary tests could not be held for them in June.
