Another spell of snow in Shimla

Shimla, February 22
The entire tribal belt and parts of Shimla district experienced another spell of snow this afternoon.

According to reports, tribal districts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Pangi valley in Chamba district experienced heavy snow today.

Meanwhile, Keylong district recorded 20 cm of snowfall this afternoon. Tourists resorts of Narkanda, Khadapathar, Khadrala and Dodra Kwar in Shimla district also experienced light to moderate snow this afternoon. Narkanda recorded about 4 cm of snowfall.

Shimla and its adjoining areas experienced rain. Lower and mid-areas of the district also experienced rain. Rohtang Pass and the Dhauladhars had heavy snow while the lower areas had intermittent rains, creating intense cold wave in adjoining valleys of Kulu and Kangra.

Palampur and its surrounding areas were lashed by strong icy winds and all passes in the region, connecting the Bare Bhangal and Chhota Bhangal were closed due to heavy snow.

Parts of Mandi, Bilaspur and Solan districts also experienced rains while Chansel Pass in Shimla district and Saach Pass in Chamba district had fresh snow, reports said.

SRINAGAR: Rains coupled with snow lashed Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley on Friday, but failed to dampen the spirit of Id-eve festivities in the valley.

Braving torrential rains and snow, people were seen buying essential items and sheep and goats for the festival.

Bazars wore a festive look in Srinagar and other parts of the valley.

It started raining early in the morning in Srinagar bringing in appreciable drop in the temperature. From midday it started snowing in the plains while high altitude mountain ranges surrounding the valley had already been experiencing snow, official reports said.

JAMMU: A woman was killed and two others injured in Pakistani firing on Border Out Posts (BOPs) and civilian areas along the International Border (IB) in Jammu since Thursday night, official sources said here on Friday.

The body of Satya Devi, who was killed in Pakistani firing, was found from near the IB in Jabowal in the R.S. Pora sector.

Pakistani troops fired on 23 BOPs and some civilian areas in R.S. Pora, Samba and Akhnoor in the Jammu sector, sources said.

Two civilians, Karan Singh of Chat-Gora village and Joginder Lal of Abdulaahian village, were injured in the firing from across the border.

Both were admitted to a Jammu Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable after surgery. Agencies
