Ultras fire rockets in Rajouri Jammu, February 18 Unidentified militants fired three rockets in succession from the eastern side of the town around 10 p.m. yesterday, they said. One of the rockets hit the rooftop of the three-storeyed building of Himalayan Education Mission School, the sources said, adding that a study room was damaged. They said two other rockets fell in the stream near the Darhali bridge without causing any damage. Soon after the incident, police and security forces fanned out to nab the militants. Meanwhile, two militants were killed and a special police officer (SPO) injured in militancy-related incidents in Udhampur and Doda districts of Jammu division where militants set ablaze three houses of villagers since yesterday, official sources said here today. They said BSF troops shot dead a hardcore militant in the Gujjar Gali area of Udhampur district last night. The slain militant, identified as Nazir Ahmed, was an expert in improvised explosive devices (IED), they said, adding one AK rifle along with its magazine and 30 rounds and one IED were seized from him. The body of an ultra, identified as Bashir Ahmed, alias Abu Mavia, injured in an encounter with security forces on February 14, was recovered from Dhamber village of Doda district yesterday. Two AK magazines and two Chinese grenades were seized from the slain militant, who belonged to the Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HUJI), sources said. SPO Des Raj was injured in an exchange of fire with militants in the Kunthwara area in Doda, they said. In another incident, militants
torched three houses at Moila village in Udhampur district on February 16 night. There was no casualty. Meanwhile, one Suram Singh was critically injured in a landmine blast at Paldi village of Ramgarh sector.
SRINAGAR: Security forces killed two Jaish-e-Mohammed militants, arrested four others and rescued a doctor in the Kashmir valley overnight. An official spokesman said officers from the Border Security Force and Special Operation Group of the Jammu and Kashmir police rescued Dr Masood Ali, who was abducted by gunmen on February 16. The abductors, however, managed to escape.
