Severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in most parts of Punjab, west Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. Cold wave conditions are also prevailing in most parts of Haryana, including Chandigarh and Delhi, parts of Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, west UP and Uttaranchal.

Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Weather was dry in the rest of the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell markedly in west UP, fell in Jammu and Kashmir, east UP and Uttaranchal and changed a little elsewhere. Departures: They were appreciably below normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, west Rajasthan and west UP, below normal in Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and above normal in east UP. The lowest temperature in the plains was -0.8°C recorded at Pilani (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of February 12, 2002: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in east UP and at isolated places in east Rajasthan and west UP. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of February 12, 2002: Mainly clear sky. Chance of thundery development towards evening in some areas. Cold wave conditions are likely to abate. Minimum temperature will be around 8°C.
