New Delhi, February 9
In a major tactical victory by India in its battle against terrorism, Aftab Ansari, alias Farhan Ali, prime suspect in the January 22 attack on the American Center in Kolkata, was brought here from Dubai by the CBI after his deportation by the UAE authorities.

A 20-hour siege to a mosque in Kupwara district ended early today after Army’s sharpshooters gunned down two Pakistani militants from Sialkot in a heavy exchange of firing when they tried to escape.

Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today warned Pakistan against any attempt to thwart India’s peace and stability even as he maintained that there was enough scope for both countries to supplement each other in achieving major developmental objectives such as poverty-reduction and other associated ills.

Tension between India and Pakistan and the need to resume dialogue between the two neighbours are expected to top the agenda of talks President George W. Taps freeze in Shimla

Most of the residents of the town remained indoors huddled near heaters today as the temperature hovered around sub-zero throughout the day, but tourists had a gala time in snow. Taps in many areas remained frozen as the minimum temperature was recorded at -4 °C.

Cryogenic engine test successful
Nagercoil, February 9
The first indigenously-built cryogenic engine was successfully test-fired today at the ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre on Mahendragiri hills in Kanyakumari district of southern Tamil Nadu. The short-duration “hot test”, lasting 10 seconds, was successful with the engine reportedly getting specific impulse of 320-330 seconds.
