Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and at many places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Haryana. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amount of precipitation in cm. are: Himachal Pradesh: Rampur Bushar 4, Shimla 3, Bhuntar, Kasol, Kumarsain and Sunibhajji 2 each, Guler, Kangra, Nagrotasurian, Paonta and Sundernagar 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Batote 6, Srinagar 4 and Pahalgam 3, Punjab: Mukerian 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours’ change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Rajasthan, fell in Haryana and east Rajasthan, rose in east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

The lowest temperature in the plains was 1.4°C recorded at Pilani (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of February 10, 2002: Rain or snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Heavy rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of February 10, 2002: Partly cloudy sky with chance of thundery development and light rain in some areas. Mist/fog in the morning. Chilly winds during day time tomorrow. Minimum temperature will be around 7°C.
