Speed limits for vehicles fixed

The Haryana Government today fixed speed limits for vehicles plying on the national highways passing through the state. A campaign will be launched to enforce the speed limits from February 1.

No candidate in the categories of Scheduled Caste-A, Scheduled Caste-B, Backward Classes and physically handicapped could qualify for the posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division) in the Haryana Civil Service (Judicial Branch) the written test for which was held in August, 2001, a press note stated here today.

Speed limits for vehicles fixed

The Haryana Government today fixed speed limits for vehicles plying on the national highways passing through the state. A campaign will be launched to enforce the speed limits from February 1.

An official spokesman said here today that those found violating the prescribed limits would be fined Rs 400 for the first offence and a minimum of Rs 1,000 for every subsequent offence.

The speed limits have also been fixed for those portions of the highways which pass through the municipal limits of towns, excluding the Ambala flyover.

The maximum speed limit for a light motor vehicle (non-transport) will be 90 km per hour, which will be reduced to 50 km per hr with in the municipal limits. In case of a transport light motor vehicle, the maximum speed limit will be 65 km per hr (45 km per hr with in municipal limits).

The maximum speed limit for scooters and motor cycles will be 50 km per hr (30 km/hr in municipal area). For medium or heavy passenger vehicles, the speed limit will be 65 km per hr on the highways passing through the areas other than the municipal limits of a town, in which case the speed limit for these vehicles will be 40 km per hr. In case of medium and heavy transport vehicles, the limit will be 65 km per hr (40 km per hr with in the municipal areas).

Vehicles drawing not more than one trailer or in the case of artillery equipment, not more than two trailers, the limit would be 60 km per hr (35 km per hr in the municipal areas). If the gross weight of such vehicles exceeds 800 kg, the speed limit will be reduced by 10 km and 5 km, respectively.

SCs fail to qualify Civil Judge exam

No candidate in the categories of Scheduled Caste-A, Scheduled Caste-B, Backward Classes and physically handicapped could qualify for the posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division) in the Haryana Civil Service (Judicial Branch) the written test for which was held in August, 2001, a press note stated here today. Only the candidate bearing roll number 692 in the general category would be called for interview for the post provided he/she fulfilled the eligibility conditions, it added.

Written test was held for 12 posts of Civil Judge, out of which six were of general category, two reserved for Scheduled Caste-A, two for Scheduled Caste-B, two for Backward Classes and one for physically handicapped.

CRPF jawan cremated

CRPF Head Constable Baldev Singh, of 53 Battalion who was killed in Shillong was cremated at his parental Baknaur village today. A family member said HC Baldev Singh was returning after Republic Day parade rehearsal in Shillong when was accidentally shot at.
