Patna, January 23
RJD President Laloo Prasad Yadav was today released from high-security Beur jail here after 59 days of incarceration in connection with fodder scam cases.

Mr Yadav was granted bail in one of the cases relating to the fodder scam by the Supreme Court on Monday. The case relates to the fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 37 crore from the Chaibasa treasury (now in Jharkhand).

Earlier, the Patna High Court had on January 7 granted provisional bail for three months to Mr Yadav in another case involving the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 47 lakh from the Bhagalpur treasury during his chief ministership. Mr Yadav, however, could not not be released from jail as the Jharkhand High Court had denied him bail in the case relating to the Chaibasa treasury. PTIBack
