Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at many places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Punjab and at isolated places in Haryana. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm. are: Himachal Pradesh: Bhuntar 3, Kangra and Shimla 2 each and Sundernagar 1 and Punjab: Mukerian and Patiala 1 each. Snowfall report (cm): Himachal Pradesh: Solang Nala 47, Dhundi 31, Bhang 17 and Patisio 7.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttaranchal, fell in Haryana and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, above normal in Haryana and Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 4.2°C recorded at Adampur (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of December 18: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Punjab. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.
