Rao new Governor of Tamil Nadu
New Delhi, January 8
Former Director-General of Andhra Pradesh Police P.S. Ramamohan Rao and former Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Shyamal Dutta were today appointed the Governors of Tamil Nadu and Nagaland respectively, according to an official statement. Mr Rao will take over the charge in Tamil Nadu from Mr C. Rangarajan, who has been holding dual charge of the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Mr Rangarajan has been holding additional charge ever since Ms Fathima Beevi resigned in the wake of a controversy over the swearing-in of Ms Jayalalitha as the Chief Minister. Mr Dutta, who recently retired as Director of the Intelligence Bureau, will succeed Mr Om Prakash Sharma. Mr Dutta had earlier headed the elite Special Protection Group (SPG). TNS
