Blast derails train, 100 hurt
Guwahati, September 25
At least 100 persons were injured, 40 of them seriously, when Bodo militants exploded a powerful bomb on the tracks derailing seven coaches of the Delhi-Guwahati North- East Express in Assam’s Bongaigaon district tonight, a Railway spokesperson said. The train’s parcel van was also thrown off the tracks while two bogies caught fire, the spokesperson said. The bomb, planted by NDFB militants on the tracks, went off at Baghmari at around 7 p.m. just when the train had left the Sapakhata railway station. Senior railway and police officials are supervising rescue and relief operations. PTI
