2 CRPF men wounded in freak incident
Guwahati, September 5
In a case of mistaken identity, two CRPF personnel were injured when two patrolling teams of the paramilitary force fired at each other in Assam’s Nalbari district on Wednesday. “It is a case of mistaken identity as the two patrolling teams failed to recognise that they belonged to the same unit in the pre-dawn darkness”, a CRPF spokesman said. UN relief reaches Orissa
Rayagada (Orissa), September 5
Amidst the controversy over alleged starvation deaths in the tribal-inhabited Kashipur block of Rayagada district, UN agencies have stepped in the area to help tackle the situation. Personnel of three UN agencies, including UNICEF, have arrived here, official sources said. Hit by food scarcity the people had been living on a gruel prepared out of dried mango kernel powder which had led to 19 deaths in the area so far. PTI
