World War II live shells found in well Kurukshetra, August 19 The explosives were found in the well by labourers employed to desilt it for the purpose of irrigation. The Pehowa police, which has deployed two policemen to guard the shells which have been stored in a small tubewell room, said the village chowkidar informed them of the discovery. The police then called forensic experts as well as Army personnel from Ambala. The Army officers, after inspection, said the mortars and shells were probably from World War II and used by the Indian artillery.

booked for abusing doctor Malerkotla, August 19 According to an FIR lodged with the police, Dr Harpreet Singh said he was on emergency duty on August 17, when at about 8 p.m., two medico-legal cases came. He admitted and wrote the medical legal report (MLR) in both the cases. Meanwhile, Kale Khan who came to the hospital in support of one party, involved in the above MLR cases, started abusing him and threatened him with dire consequences on the pretext that he had treated the patients without his permission. |
