Tribune News Service

New Delhi, June 20
The Centre today tried to allay the fears of Assam about the setting up of Naga camps in its territory in the wake of expansion of the ceasefire beyond Nagaland without the consultation of the state government, saying that there were no immediate plans to set up any such camps.

“There is no immediate move to set up any Naga camps in Assam and any decision on the camps will be taken by the Ceasefire Monitoring Group, which has a representation of all parties concerned,” a Home Ministry spokesman told newspersons here.

He said the Home Minister, Mr L.K. Advani, spoke to the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogai and assured that there were no such plans and the territorial integrity of the state would be protected at any cost.

Detailing about the situation in Manipur, the spokesman claimed that the state was fast returning to normalcy.

However, he said the indefinite curfew continued in Greater Imphal areas while night curfew was imposed on Churachandpur district.
