Jail assault: case registered

The police today registered a case against nine undertrials of the local district jail on the charge of causing injuries to Jagir Singh, another inmate of the jail, yesterday. Jagir Singh was attacked for having meals while the other inmates of the jail were observing a fast in protest against the death of Gurnam Singh, an undertrial, due to lack of medical aid. Mr Roop Mal, Deputy Superintendent of the district jail identified the undertrials booked in a case as Amarjit Singh, Avtar Singh, Kulwant Singh, Pathak Masih, Surjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Balwinder Singh, Buta Singh and Surjit Singh. The police has registered a case under Section 323 of the IPC against them for causing injuries to Jagir Singh.
