7 factory workers charred to death
Jhajjar, May 20
At least seven workers were charred to death in a fire which broke out in a chemical factory in Modern Industrial Estate area today. The fire was brought under control by two fire engines. According to information, the fire broke out when a worker lighted a bidi inside the factory. The police said at least 12 persons were inside at the time of the incident. The superintendent in the factory said he tried to forbid the worker from doing so but in vain. He said he and a few others managed to escape through the only gate. The SSP, Mr Mohammad Akil, reached the spot.

4 killed in accident
Hoshiarpur, May 20
Four persons were killed and six injured when a bus (PB-12-E-9251) of Pathankot depot hit a Tata Sumo (UP-16A-0127) near Ema Mangat village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot road, today. The injured persons have been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Dasuya. The deceased have been identified as M. Surinder Kumar, C.S. Parkash, D. Sahalo and Ram Roop of Hyderabad.
