Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at many places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana, at a few places in Punjab and at isolated places in Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in east Uttar Pradesh. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Haryana: Hisar 3 and Jagadhari, Kaithal, Kalka and Sirsa 1 each, Himachal Pradesh: Jubbal, Kataula, Nadaun and Sujanpur Tira 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu 3 and Kathua 1, Punjab: Dhuri, Jagraon and Mukerian 1 each and Uttaranchal: Mukteshwar 2.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Himachal Pradesh, rose in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, fell appreciably in west Uttar Pradesh, fell in Haryana, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little in Rajasthan. Departures: They were above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, appreciably below normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and below normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 40.4°C recorded at Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of 18th: Rain or snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region.

Thundersqualls are likely at isolated places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, north Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of 18th: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundery development and light rain in some areas. Maximum temperature will be around 34°C.

Farmers’ weather bulletin for Delhi forecast valid until the morning of 18th: Light rain is likely at a few places.

Outlook for subsequent two days: No large change.

Earthquake report: An earthquake of slight intensity having its magnitude 4 on the richter scale occurred at 14 2.07 pm (I.S.T.) on yesterday with its epicentre at latitude at 29 degree N, longitude 81.3 degree E in the Nepal region.
