16 killed, 25 hurt in Nasik mishap
Nasik, February 25
Sixteen persons, including two women and two children, were killed and 25 injured when the tempo in which they were travelling collided with a truck this morning at Erandgaon, 3 km from Yeola tehsil town of the district. The injured were admitted to Nasik Civil Hospital. Drivers of both vehicles had been arrested the police said. PTI

3 ultras surrender
Jorhat (Assam), February 25
Three hardcore ULFA militants, including an “Action Group” member, laid down arms here today, official sources said. The militants, Dhonasor Sonowal, alias Don Gogoi, Jagat Choudhury, alias Robin Saikia, and Diganta Chetia, alias Moina Phukam, surrendered before the Assam DGP, Mr Harekrishna Deka. PTI

Manipur minister quits
Imphal, February 25
Barely 48 after ministry expansion, the Radhabinod Koijam government in Manipur was jolted today when Health Minister Nimachand Luwang said he, along with Cooperation Minister Amutombi Singh and Veterinary Minister M. Manihar Singh, submitted their resignation letters to the Chief Minister last evening. PTI

6 kids charred
Hyderabad, February 25
Six children were charred to death and 14 were injured when a gas cylinder exploded today in a residential area of Karimnagar town, about 160 km from here, the police said. The incident occurred when the cylinder being used in a tiny shop to melt scrap exploded and the melted liquid splashed over the children who were playing in the street. PTI
