5 ULFA ultras killed
Shillong, February 23
Five ULFA militants were killed in a fierce gun battle with the Meghalaya police on Thursday at Garobadha in West Garo Hills district, state’s Home Minister T.H. Rangad said. The encounter took place when the police, acting on a tip off, raided the hideout of the militants, killing five militants and injuring four others. The injured were arrested by the police. PTI

Kedarnath reopens on April 28
Gopeshwar (Uttaranchal), February 23
The Kedarnath shrine, which was closed during the winter season, will be opened for pilgrims from April 28. A decision to this effect was taken at the religious meet during the Maha Shivratri festival, the temple officials said here. The idol of Lord Shiva, which was at Okhimath during the winter, would be shifted to Kedarnath on April 26. PTI
