Liquor shop auction system goes in UP
LUCKNOW, Feb 1 (UNI) — The Uttar Pradesh Government in a major step today decided to scrap the auction system of liquor shops in the state, replacing it with a new licence-based system. A decision to this effect was taken at the state Cabinet meeting.

9 die in clash
PATNA, Feb 1 (UNI) — At least nine persons were killed in a clash between a gang led by Suresh Yadav and CPI (ML) workers at Jagdishpur village in Siwan district today. DGP R.R. Prasad said here that a few houses were also torched during the clash.

Govt buildings burnt
JAMMU, Feb 1 (UNI) — An irate mob of students set ablaze some government buildings, including the Information Department in Rajouri, today in protest against the failure of the authorities in tracing out a student of Jammu University.
