GANDHIDHAM, Jan 31 (PTI) — Union Home Minister L.K. Advani was ‘gheraoed’ today by agitated residents of this town who complained of ‘gross neglect’ by state administration in respect of rescue and relief operations.

AHMEDABAD, Jan 31 (UNI) — Fire officials cut an 18-foot-deep path through the debris of a residential complex to pull out a woman who had spent 118 painful hours inside it.

VHP to adopt kids
ALLAHABAD, Jan 31 (UNI) — The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to adopt all children orphaned in the recent earthquake in Gujarat. “The VHP was taking the responsibility to adopt all those children who have lost their parents and relatives in the ravaging earthquake”, the working president of the VHP, Mr Ashok Singhal, said here last night. The parishad would bear all the cost of bringing them up until they become self dependent, he added.
