4 CPI (ML) men shot by police
GAYA, Jan 23 (UNI) — At least four CPI(ML) supporters were killed and five others injured in police firing in Manpur market in Gaya during a bandh called by the party here today. Official sources here said the police opened fire to ward off an attack by the CPI(ML) supporters who hurled stones at them. The activists were trying to enforce the bandh by forcibly closing the Manpur market. The bandh had been called in protest against the arrest and manhandling of the party supporters during the Bihar bandh on January 17.

Vijayaraje critical
NEW DELHI, Jan 23 (UNI) — Veteran BJP leader Vijayaraje Scindia’s condition was reported to be “very critical” today with her vital functions, including liver and kidney, severely affected. Doctors attending on the 81-year-old former MP said she had shown signs of slipping back into coma.

4 Muslims killed
GUWAHATI, Jan 23 (PTI) — In continuing violence in Assam, four Muslim timbercutters were hacked to death and two others seriously injured by militants in lower Assam’s Nalbari district last night, the police said here today.

DDA racket unearthed
NEW DELHI, Jan 23 (PTI) — The Delhi police today claimed to have unearthed a racket involving fraudulent allotment of SFS flats and restoration of cancelled flats with the arrest of seven Delhi Development Authority (DDA) officials and two property dealers.
