NEW DELHI, Jan 1 — Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh, at a few places in Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Haryana and Punjab, at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms are: Haryana: Narwana 5, Guhla and Jhajjar 4 each, Gohana and Kaithal 3 each, Hisar and Rohtak 2 each and Ambala, Chandigarh, Narnaul, Nilokheri, New Delhi (Palam) and Thanesar 1 each, Himachal Pradesh: Dharampur and Una 3 each, Barsar, Dehragopipur, Hamirpur, Nadaun and Nalagarh 2 each and Berthin, Ghamroor, Kahu, Kasol, Rajgarh, Shimla and Sundernagar 1 each, Punjab: Nawanshahr 4, Balachaur and Patiala 3 each, Ludhiana and Nangal 2 each and Adampur, Bathinda, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Halwara and Talwandi Bhai 1 each and Rajasthan: Churu 1.

Temperature: 
Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose appreciably in Haryana, rose in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh, fell markedly in east Rajasthan, fell appreciably in west Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were markedly above normal in Haryana and Punjab, appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and above normal in Himachal Pradesh. The lowest temperature in the plains was 7.6°C recorded at Jodhpur city (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 3: Rain or snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in west Rajasthan.

Heavy rainfall warning : Heavy rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal during the next 24 hours.

Low temperature warning : In Punjab, minimum temperatures are likely to fall up to 4°C or less during the next two nights leading to cold wave conditions. Possibility of ground frost at a few places during the same period.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning 3 January : Partly cloudy sky. Fog during night and morning. Mainly clear sky with strong winds later. Appreciable fall in minimum temperature and will be around 6°C.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of January 3 : Sky will be partly cloudy.

Outlook for the subsequent two days : Decrease in rainfall.
