Bibi Jagir KaurCHANDIGARH, Nov 15 — Mr Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today granted anticipatory bail to SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur who has been booked by the CBI under Sections 302, 313, and 344 of the IPC for the murder of her daughter, Harpreet Kaur.

Fiji HC reinstates Chaudhry govt
SUVA, Nov 15 — Fiji’s high court ruled today that the government ousted by the military after a coup on May 19 was still legally in power. Justice Tony Gates found that Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara remains Fiji’s lawful President and that Parliament legally was still intact.

Banking operations crippled
NEW DELHI, Nov 15 — The one-day nationwide strike by bank employees virtually crippled banking operations in the country today.

Cricket team not to tour Pak
NEW DELHI, Nov 15 — The first tour by the Indian cricket team to Pakistan in more than a decade was today called off with the Indian government, citing “bilateral relations” denying permission for the tour scheduled to commence early next year.

Pak nod for corridor to shrine 
NANKANA SAHIB (PAKISTAN), Nov 15 — The Chief Executive, Gen Pervez Musharaf, has given the green signal for constructing a 1.5- km-long corridor along the Indo-Pakistan border connecting Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib—as proposed by the Aukaf Board— where Sikh devotees will be able to pay obeisance without a passport/ visa.

Lone to leave for Pak today
NEW DELHI, Nov 15 — Senior Hurriyat leader and chief of People’s Conference Abdul Gani Lone today termed the grant of passport for visiting Pakistan to attend the wedding of his son as a “good gesture” from the Centre but said “it would have been better had all my colleagues attended the marriage”.


3 ultras, 4 Army men killed
SRINAGAR, Nov 15 — Three militants and four security force personnel were killed and six others injured in an encounter at Pattan, 27 km North of here in Baramula district today. At least three houses were also gutted in the gunbattle which was continuing till the last reports came in.
