3 high priests excommunicated
Jagir Kaur bulldozes way into Akal Takht
AMRITSAR, March 12 — In a move unprecedented in Sikh history, Giani Puran Singh, Jathedar, Akal Takht, today excommunicated three Sikh High Priests, Prof Manjit Singh, Jathedar Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Giani Kewal Singh, Jathedar, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Bhagwan Singh, Head Granthi, Akal Takht, and Mr Pritam Singh Bhatia, executive member of the SGPC and Mr Jaswinder Singh, advocate member of the SGPC, for ‘violating’ the controversial January 25 “hukamnama”.

NAGPUR, March 12 — In a major reshuffle in its hierarchy, Mr Mohan Bhagwat was today made the RSS General Secretary to replace Mr H.V. Sheshadri who was demoted to the rank of Joint General Secretary.

7 Dalits burnt alive in Karnataka

CPI not to support Rabri govt
MIDNAPORE (West Bengal), March 12 — The Communist Party of India (CPI) today categorically stated that it will not support the Rabri Devi government in Bihar.“We will not support Laloo Prasad Yadav at any cost. We would prefer to sit in the Opposition,’’ CPI General Secretary A.B. Bardhan told newspersons here after attending a condolence meeting of CPI leader Geeta Mukherjee. “There is no question of supporting the RJD or a man of the stature of Laloo Yadav, whom we have seen ruling Bihar for past several years,’’ he said.
