JAMMU, Sept 23 — Pakistani troops opened fire at 10 border outposts and villages in R.S. Pura, Samba and Akhnoor sub-sectors in the Jammu region, a BSF spokesman said here today.The Pakistani Rangers began firing last evening and continued till early this morning on Chachuwal, Sangral, Mangral, Alfa Machal, Devra, Bobiyan, Suchetgarh, Londi, Chilyari and Khora villages.

LPG pipelines to J&K planned
JAMMU, Sept 23 — Union Minister of State for Petroleum Santosh Gangwar has said LPG and petrol will be supplied to Jammu and Kashmir through pipelines in a phased manner.

Pak fires at 10 posts; 4 smugglers held

JAMMU, Sept 23 (PTI) — Pakistani troops opened fire at 10 border outposts (BOPs) and villages in R.S. Pura, Samba and Akhnoor sub-sectors in the Jammu region, a BSF spokesman said here today.

The Pakistani Rangers began firing last evening and continued till early this morning on Chachuwal, Sangral, Mangral, Alfa Machal, Devra, Bobiyan, Suchetgarh, Londi, Chilyari and Khora villages.

There was no loss of life or damage to property.

Troops of the BSF retaliated with restraint. Casualties on the Pakistani side could not be ascertained.

Militants shot dead a youth while the police seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition and heroin worth Rs 2 crore from four narcotic smugglers in the Jammu region, the police said today.

Militants shot dead a youth in Doodi Mahal village of Rajouri district on Monday night.

A large quantity of arms and explosives were recovered in sealed boxes from Thanamandi and Surankote areas in the past two days, reports from Rajouri and Poonch districts said.

Another report said the police arrested four smugglers at Palli village in Jammu district yesterday and recovered heroin worth Rs 2 crore and an air gun from their possession.

SRINAGAR: One person was killed and seven militants were arrested across Kashmir valley since Tuesday evening.

The captured militants include a Pakistani national, Umar Bhadur, who was arrested by the police from Glar village in Samba sector.

Militants shot dead a person inside his house at Panwar in the Kulgam area of Anantnag district.

Militants kidnapped a Gujjar from his house at Nagin Mori in Doda district. The Gujjar was taken to an unknown destination at gun-point.

LPG pipelines to J&K planned

JAMMU, Sept 23 (PTI) — Union Minister of State for Petroleum Santosh Gangwar has said LPG and petrol will be supplied to Jammu and Kashmir through pipelines in a phased manner.

Responding to the demand of Minister of State for Food and Supplies Ajay Sadhotra at a meeting here yesterday, Mr Gangwar said the Centre would take up all the demands of Jammu and Kashmir on priority.

Mr Gangwar said the Centre would install gas plants in the state in a phased manner to provide LPG to consumers at the block level.

Mr Sadhotra stressed the need for installation of LPG/ petroleum plants in Jammu, Srinagar and Leh to ensure regular supplies to consumers.

The meeting was attended by Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, Sardar Harbans Singh, MlC, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, B.S. Jaswal, Director, Food and Supplies, S.S. Jamwal, IG, Jammu zone, Kuldip Khuda and other senior officers.
