JAMMU, Nov 14 Seven
persons, including one Army officer, were killed in three
separate incidents in the Jammu region today. Two Army
officers were injured.
Reports said that one Army
officer was killed and two others were injured when
militants opened fire on the Army patrol party at
Faislabad in the Poonch area, 250 km north of Jammu. Two
militants were killed in the operation.
In another incident near
Banihal, three civilians, including 50-year-old Shah
Begum, were killed when a group of militants barged into
the house of a Gujjar and opened fire, killing all the
three dwellers on the spot.
The police killed Pak
national Qasim in the Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu city
when he tried to hurl a grenade which did not explode.
Reports said that the police recovered four hand grenades
from the slain militant.
According to these
reports, additional troops have been rushed to the
Faislabad area where the Army had lost one officer in the
encounter. The troops have been directed to flush out the
militants who had established hideouts in the hilly belt.
SRINAGAR (UNI): Two persons were
killed and five injured while two militants surrendered
in the Kashmir valley during the past 24 hours.
An official spokesman said
at least one person was injured and four taxis damaged
when an explosive device went off at a taxi stand in
Badgam in central Kashmir this afternon. He said security
forces cordoned off the area and launched a massive hunt
to nab the militants.
A mine planted by
militants went off when a security force vehicle passed
Mimander Shopian early this morning injuring two security
personnel and damaged the vehicle.
Militants entered the
house of Ghulam Rasool Naikoo at Ratnipora and shot him
dead late last night,while elsewhere militants shot at
and wounded Abdul Rehman at Aloosa in Bandipora last
evening.
Militants hurled a hand
grenade near an std booth at Soibugh in badgam last
evening.However,it missed the target and exploded on the
roadside injuring a girl.
He said one militant each
surrendered at Kohlar Tangmarg and Khanyar along with one
AK 56 rifle,one pistol,three magazines and 41 rounds last
evening.
Official sources said
militants shot dead Abdul Gani Sheikh at Zainapora in
Pulwama last night.
