Quake kills 5 in Iran
TEHRAN, Nov 14 (AP) — An earthquake in south-western Iran killed five persons and injured 105, Iranian radio reported today. Rescue officials said they did not expect the death toll to go much higher. The quake shook the Khonj-e-Lar area of the Fars province yesterday. Its magnitude was 5.7. The greatest damage appeared to be in Beyghard, a village of 3,000 that is 22 km east of Khonj. Seventy per cent of the town was destroyed and its water and electricity supplies were severed. More than 850 houses were damaged in Khonj, and schools were closed today, according to official Islamic Republic News Agency.
Heroin seized
NEW DELHI, Nov 14 (PTI) — The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a foreign national for allegedly possessing 4.465 kg of heroin, valued at over Rs 4 crore in international market. Mohammed Malvin of St Louis, Carribean Islands, arrested yesterday by NCB officials from east of Kailash in South Delhi, was remanded to 14 days' judicial custody by a city magistrate today. Of the 4.465 kg heroin, 1.5 kg was stuffed in plastic capsules weighing between 12 to 14 miligrams, while capsules of the remaining material was yet to be prepared.

Kalka-Shimla luxury coach inaugurated

CHANDIGARH, Nov 14 — "Shivalik Queen," a luxury coach targeted at honeymoon couples on the Kalka-Shimla narrow-gauge railway section, was inaugurated at Kalka by the General Manager of the Northern Railway, Mr SP Mehta, today.
The coach has four cabins, two modern bathrooms with latest fittings, wider windows, wall to wall carpets, decorative lights, music system and a dressing table in each cabin, among other facilities, railway authorities said. Bookings can be made from Kalka, Chandigarh, Shimla and Ambala railway stations. The fare on a per cabin basis will be Rs 750 from Kalka to Shimla.
