on rath yatra

NEW DELHI, Dec 1 — The Rajya Sabha Vice-Chairperson, Ms Saroj Kharpade, today directed the government to make a statement before December 3 on the reported move of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal to launch a rath yatra to a Sufi shrine near Chikmagalur in Karnataka.

Australia eases ban on bilateral talks
SYDNEY, Dec 1 — The Australian Government has partially lifted the sanctions imposed on India following its May nuclear tests by easing ban on ministerial and senior officials' visits between the two countries, a foreign ministry spokesman said.

3,284 new posts of teacher
HP raises travel allowance by 60 p.c.
SHIMLA, Dec 1 — The Himachal Government today revised the travel and daily allowances and doubled the special pay for various categories of employees. The decision was taken at the meeting of the state Cabinet. It also created 3284 posts of JBT teachers and decided to fill 5603 posts to regularise the services of 4159 voluntary teachers.
