Ahead of the first phase of polling to Jammu and Kashmir assembly on September 18, being held after a gap of 10 years, the National Conference leader and former CM, Omar Abdullah accuses separatist-turned-political leaders of being proxies for the BJP to target his party. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
