Claiming that the reports regarding widespread road blockages in the state due to heavy rain and landslides are exaggerated, a spokesperson of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department has said a majority of the roads were open and accessible to tourists and public.

He said tourism was vital to the state and the state government was committed to ensuring visitors can travel safely and enjoy their holidays in the state. “The Public Works Department (PWD) was also working diligently to clear any blockages and restore travel routes promptly,” the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said the state government had taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and convenience of tourists. “Regular updates on road conditions are being provided by the district administration and the state police. The key tourist destinations, including Shimla, Manali, Dharamsala, Dalhousie, Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti, continue to welcome visitors,” he said.

He urged the travellers to stay informed by checking the latest travel advisories and road conditions through district administration helplines, police department contacts and social media handles.
