PUTA accuses Punjabi University VC of insulting faculty
Patiala, June 22
A day after Punjabi University Syndicate rejected promotion of eight faculty members, representatives of the Punjabi University Teachers Union (PUTA) today levelled allegation against university Vice-Chancellor Prof Arvind of insulting them during interviews for promotion under the Career Advancement Scheme.
The teachers were subjected to undue pressure by questioning the authenticity of the published papers during interviews, a press release of the PUTA said. “This has dented the morale of faculty members as some of them feel cheated after putting in valuable years to academic research. Such an approach reflects the negative attitude of the selection committee and arrogance of the Vice-Chancellor”, they said.
The VC said the CAS promotions were being carried out strictly as per provisions and in order to uplift the academic level of the university.
