New Delhi, April 25

As social media giants — Twitter and Facebook — have been asked to remove dozens of tweets and FB message related to Covid and criticism of the government, it turns out some of the posts pulled down were misleading.

The action was taken against users who misused social media to spread panic and misinformation. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had got these posts removed.

Social media platforms were asked to remove around 100 posts which had fake or misleading information regarding coronavirus, vaccines, oxygen supplies and other issues.

A person who posted that “Corona is no illness” also saw their posts removed. Another person had questioned the need of vaccination. — TNS
