NHM workers on Tuesday observed one-day strike against their pending demands. The agitating employees, including medical officers, staff nurses, homoeopathic, ayurveda medical officers and ministerial staff organised dharna in front of the Civil Surgeon’s office here. Sukhbir Kaur, district president of the union, led the protesters. Employees’ leaders Sohawa Singh Mann, Loveleen Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur and Sarbjit Kaur, while speaking on the occasion, said the protesting employees had been working in the department for the last so many years on meager salaries and their services had not been regularised. The leaders demanded regularisation of their services in the Health Department. The strike call was given by the NHM Employees Union, Punjab. The Covid-19 services like sampling, testing and vaccination were badly due to the strike. The leaders condemned the statement of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh that the protesting employees would be removed from their services.
