Activists of the SFI on Monday held a protest at the Vidhan Sabha to oppose the implementation of the News Education Policy (NEP) in the state. They said Himachal should not be made a trial ground as was done in the case of RUSA in 2014. The activists beat utensils while also maintaining social distancing. The other demands included withdrawal of fee hike and restoration of the SC/ST scholarship..

‘Covid’s Metamorphosis’ launched

Shoolini University’s Belletristic Literature Society has released an e-book, ‘Covid’s Metamorphosis’, edited by Prof Manju Jaidka and Dr Nilak Datta. It is a collection of stories on how human lives across the world have been radically transformed by the pandemic. Prof Malashri Lala, an eminent academician and author from Delhi University, complimented the editors and Shoolini University for organising literary events on a regular basis. She said the book was the first international collection of unusual and original stories on the subject from across the globe. The authors hail from different places.

ABVP submits memorandum to Governor

An ABVP delegation on Monday presented a memorandum of demands to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. The representatives requested the Governor to issue directions to all Vice Chancellors of Himachal Pradesh universities to convene meetings of the board of management, board of directors, executive council and the finance committee on campuses. Rahul Rana, a delegation member, said instead of university premises, these meetings were being held at the secretariat, which was undermining the autonomy of these institutions.

340 take part in Hindi e-quiz

An e-quiz was organised by Government College, Dehri, on Monday to mark Hindi Diwas. The event was held under the Centrally sponsored ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat’ programme, in which over 340 students from Kerala and Himachal Pradesh participated. Dr Kamakshi Lumba, college coordinator of the programme, said the Government of India had launched ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat’ to promote national integration and Himachal Pradesh had been paired with Kerala for cultural exchange. She said the college had constituted a club for fulfilling the objective.
