Kuki group seeks FIR against Manipur CM
A Kuki group has sought the registration of an FIR against Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, alleging a conspiracy to “commit large-scale ethnic violence, including mass murder and sexual offences against the ethnic community (Kuki people residing in the state)”.
The Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) has written to Supreme Court-appointed officer Dattatray Padsalgikar, who is monitoring the probe into cases related to the ethnic violence in Manipur.
It has also sought an FIR against Singh for “commission of several overt and covert illegal and criminal actions in furtherance of the said criminal conspiracy”.
In a memorandum addressed to Padsalgikar, the former Maharashtra DGP, appointed by the Supreme Court to oversee the probe into the Manipur ethnic violence cases, sent through Home Secretary Govind Mohan, KOHUR gave reference of news articles on a leaked audio purportedly of the Manipur Chief Minister and demanded action.
