Dharamsala, May 24

Air-India will operate flights from the Gaggal airport at Kangra from tomorrow. Sources said the airport would receive flights from Delhi and Chandigarh.

Though the Union Minister for Civil Aviation has stated that travellers will not be quarantined, the Himachal Government has not accepted the idea. As per directives issued by DC, Kangra, Rakesh Prajapati, only Himachal residents, who have residence proof, will be allowed to board flight to Dharamsala.

He has also stated that the residents will have to obtain an entry pass from the DM concerned and show it after getting down at the Gaggal airport.

The order also states that the residents coming from red zones and those with flu symptoms will be put in institutional quarantine.

The order states that if any person, who does not have a valid address proof, will not be allowed to enter the district and be put in institutional quarantine.

The order has been issued to ensure that no person should come to Himachal with the purpose of tourism.

Before the lockdown, five domestic flights, including two each of Air-India and Spicejet from Delhi, used to operate. Air-India used to operate a flight between Chandigarh and Dharamsala for six days in a week.
