Arts festival begins at Jammu University

‘Protsaahan’—a ten-day multi-arts festival organised by UTSAAH, Club Consortium of University of Jammu, kickstarted on Tuesday.
The first day of the festival started with the opening of a five-day art camp “Sarjana” by the Painting Club in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Suresh Gupta, Principal Secretary to Government, Culture Department, was the chief guest and Bharat Singh, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the guest of honour. Twelve prominent artists from all over India are mentoring the students during the camp.
Earlier, the day started with a blood donation camp wherein more than 100 students registered themselves as donors. Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, was the chief guest at the camp.
Prof Satnam Kour, chairperson, UTSAAH, formally welcomed the guests and appreciated the coordinators for their painstaking efforts in involving the students and making the festival meaningful and engaging.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Gupta commended the art camp and said that University is the best grooming ground for the students.
Meanwhile, lauding the initiative of the Community Service Club, Dr Ashutosh Gupta said that such kind of blood donation camps should be made a regular feature in the university and the medical fraternity and the University should work in a systematic and organic way for such endeavours.
